Sociology Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Temporary, part time (0.6)

Starting October or November 2017

We seek a temporary, part time (0.6) A level teacher to teach in this very successful department to start in October or November and to run until the end of June 2018.   The College invites applications from talented and enthusiastic A level teachers.  NQTs are welcome to apply.

Salaries will be on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Teachers Salary Scale between £24,457 – £38,364 pro-rata, according to experience, plus £2,508 pro-rata London Weighting, with pending pay award.

Requirements


1. Honours degree in relevant discipline.

2. PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.

3. Ability to teach Sociology at A level standard

4. Contribute positively to the work of the department by sharing teaching ideas and resources.

5. Excellent classroom skills that demonstrate effective differentiation and assessment for learning and give rise to high quality learning.

6. Successful use of intervention strategies to improve levels of progress.

7. Skilled in using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning

8. Good behaviour management skills.

9. Excellent communication and team working skills.

10. The inter-personal skills and enthusiasm required to undertake the duties of a personal tutor to post-16 age group.

11. Understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity in practice.

12. Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people.
